HISTORY of the RIDE
2010_spinning_melissa_200

The 6-Hour Ride for a Reason, originally known as the Spinning Marathon, was founded by Master Instructor, Joey Adams, in 2000.  The event has grown tremendously over the years.  Over 120 riders participated in 2009 and raised $39,000.  The actual marathon consists of a six hour indoor spinning ride, led by a group of Master Instructors from around the country.  Instructors guide riders through a dynamic six hour event with live music, master mixes, hourly raffles, countdowns to each hour and a cool down period followed by a celebratory luncheon.

How does the 6-Hour Ride benefit SOVT?

Proceeds from the 6-Hour Ride directly benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Vermont.  The mission of Special Olympics Vermont is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendships with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
