Special Olympics Unified Sports brings together athletes (individuals with intellectual disabilities) with traditional learning individuals to train and compete on the same team.

The concept of combining these individuals was first introduced in the mid-1980’s to provide another level of challenge for higher ability athletes and to promote equality and inclusion.
